Choose the beach that’s right for you. With nearly five miles of sand there are lots of things to do at different beaches around Kailua Bay.

The Kailua Beachwalk is four miles long and highly recommended for your sunrise circuit.

Castles Beach
Good surfing and bodysurfing. Street parking only. Enter from public right of way at 800 block of N. Kalaheo Ave. No lifeguard or facilities.

Shorebreak
Good surf for beginners; good bodysurfing and swimming. Street parking only. Enter from public right of way at 500 block of N. Kalaheo Ave. No. lifeguard or facilities.

Kalama Beach Park
Bodysurfing, swimming; good beach for small groups. Entrance at 248 N. Kalaheo Ave. Limited free public parking in small lot and on side streets. Open daily 7am – 6pm. Restrooms, showers and picnic areas.

Kailua Beach at Kalapawai
Launch area for windsurfing, kiteboarding and kayaking. Park entrance at the corner of Kalaheo Ave. and Kailua Rd. Free public parking. Open dawn to dusk. Lifeguard, restrooms, showers and picnic areas.

Kailua Beach at Kawailoa
Good swimming and snorkeling beach. Canal launch area for kayaks and outrigger canoes. Free public parking. Open dawn to dusk. Lifeguard, restrooms, showers and picnic areas. The Kawainui Canal serves as a major launch area for kayaks and Hawaiian outrigger canoes.

Kailua Beach at Lanikai Point
Good swimming beach with lava rock tidal pools good for small children. Boat ramp launch area for canoes, sailboats and power craft. Free public parking. Open dawn to dusk. Restrooms, showers and picnic area.

On the south side of Kailua beach, tidal pools under Lanikai Point are great for kids and shoreline eco-exploration.

Lanikai Beach
Good swimming, snorkeling, sailing and canoeing. Watch for sea turtles. Street parking only. Best beach access via public right of ways off Mokulua Dr. at Mokumanu, Kaiolena, Haokea and Kuailima. No lifeguard or facilities.

Public right of way to Kailua Beach at Kai One
Look for public right-of-way signs like this along Mokulua Drive in Lanikai and along North Kalaheo Avenue. These provide access to virtually all of Kailua and Lanikai beach.

Obey postings and beach warnings. Watch for warning signs of rough waves or other unsafe conditions.

Beware of auto break-ins. Don't leave valuables anywhere in your car, not even in your locked glove compartment or trunk.

Park legally & keep bikeways clear. Don't park in driveways, bus stops, on paved sidewalks, bikeways or areas marked "No Parking." Best beach parking is available Monday through Friday. Allow extra time for parking on weekends and holidays.

Be considerate and courteous. Lanikai and Kailua are residential neighborhoods. Please respect the quiet, privacy and property rights of the neighbors. Don’t leave a mess for someone else to clean up. Mahalo Kailuavacationrentals.net.
