Best of Kailua

Everything's better on the Windward side.

What's New in the Neighborhood!

Pricebusters (hello to good buys) will be back in Kailua before we know it! And almost in their same location -- just across the street. Or, as we say in Hawai`i "across Walgreen's". Beth Tom, the all-time genius at finding beautiful bargains and old time candy, will be here again to take care of us in Kailua! Welcome home! Paper Roses has opened in Kailua Shopping Center a few stores towards Times from Lanikai Bath and Body. It's a stationery shop, card shop and a place where you can order special invitations shop. It's been a long time since Windward Stationers deserted us (or perhaps we deserted them for OfficeMax and OfficeDepot) but Paper Roses isn't a bit like Windward Stationers anyway. It's bright, light and full of selection. Stop by!

Paper Roses is a locally owned stationery, greeting card and gift store- they just opened in our Kailua in the Kailua Shopping Center (across the street from Macy's). Owners Paul and Ava Stottlemyer have been running Paper Roses for more than 15 years in Hawaii. The store carries several kinds of invitations, including ones that are locally designed as well as special ones that are hand-picked from around the world. Be sure to check it out.

YOgurt Mama!
In the space previously occupied by Royal Hawaiian Jewelry the sparkly, brand new, brightly colored YOgurt MAMA! has opened, with all kinds of delicious yogurt, including the yummy plain tart, and a couple of bars of toppings ranging from good-for-you-stuff to chocolate chips, cocoa krispies, smashed butterfingers and -- as they say -- more! It's right across the street from the just-opened Walgreen's. Plenty of parking and definitely worth the stop!

Crepes No Ka Oi

Crepes No Ka Oi are cooked local style, catering to the taste buds of Hawai'i. Light and fluffy crepes filled with your favorites whether it's Lomi Lomi salmon, Kalua pig, poi, papaya, or lilikoi. We also like to use locally grown produce as much as possible to support local farmers.

I stopped by Paper Roses earlier this afternoon to check out their store --- It's full of all kinds of cards, stationery and you can ordered special designs for wedding invitations and other special occasions.

It's a long way from Windward Stationers. Now we need an office supply store in Kailua. Oh yes, and for Price Busters to come back, which it is.
