It may be commonknowledge, but perhaps not ... most of the town of Kailua is owned by the Castle Foundation and Kaneohe Ranch. They are the ones reasponsible for develping Kailua as a walking town, a vision that is coming true faster than we thought. This afternoon, we saw two big barracuda in the canal that runs by our backyard to Kailua Beach.

When my son was younger, he figured out the perfect shiny, silver lure to catch barracuda. He would see one coming down the canal, grab his fishing pole and strike at the perfect time. He always threw them back. Once we meaured one as long as his arm/

Today, some ten or fifteen years later, he saw two barracuda in the canal -- each over three feet long. They lingered
