Chutney made, puzzle not answered

Okay. Our hayden Mango tree had enough firm-ripe mangoes to make 11 1/2 pints of chutney. Followed Liz Lee's recipe but used dark raisins not yellow -- think it made a difference but not bad.

Here's what everyone needs to know: Candied/Crystallized ginger available at R. Field's at Foodland ... not Safeway,
not Daiei (except with li hing mui). Apparently very little call for it.

Chutney turned out v. delicious. We are having biryani for dinner tonight.
